Rain in Siena
I thought in my travels to Siena, I would get away from the rain. I was wrong. I flew five thousand miles away from Oregon, but the rain still follows. But I am happy it did because there is something different about the rain in Siena. With even a word or whisper of the tiniest little shower, each and every Italian is ready with a hooded rain jacket and a stylish umbrella. Never in my life have I seen so many umbrellas in one place. I watched in amazement, from my apartment on the 6th floor, as various groups of umbrellas came and went. Bobbing by.
It is actually difficult to get by in the rain without bumping umbrellas with someone.
I now realize why everyone has umbrellas. I too now love the invention of the umbrella. I check the weather each morning and if it has the little rain icon, my umbrella comes with. What a wonder it is to get from place to place in the rain and not even get a little bit wet. Who knew.
I love to use my umbrella. It is so cute. I made sure to get a plaid one because I thought it was the most stylish. And I made sure it was red.
Not only is it cute but it's an umbrella. I just hadn't even realized how convenient an umbrella was. I not only love my umbrella, i need my umbrella.
When I went to Italy I thought I wouldn't change. I wouldn't bring any pompous study abroad practices back to the states with me. I still hope I won't be like that, but one thing I will bring back with me is my umbrella usage. Even when it's only drizzling, as soon as I step foot out of any building, I am already opening my umbrella. Walking out of a room umbrella first.
