The couch in the museum
Dear Blog,
I'm not sure if this was on purpose or not but in the Jordan Schnitzel's Museum of Art there was one of the most eye catching couches I've ever seen. It was surrounded by priceless works of art yet I couldn't take my eyes off of the centerpiece.
The couch.
So simple, it could go with any artwork, so elegant, it couldn't ever see it going out of style. I thought about distracting the student workers, lugging it out of the museum, and placing it in the center of my room. I ended up taking the high road and continuing the path the museum decided for me. At the end of my tour, I still couldn't get the couch out of my head. I knew that couch would stay in the back of my mind for longer than the Picassos and Rothkos that cycled in and out of the building ever could. In my mind it served something different and more beautiful than the paintings did. Something truly purposeful in this museum. It was beautiful for purpose and for looks. This couch had seen so much.. so much. To be a fly on a wall? No, to be a couch in a museum.
