May 24th Excursion Pt. 2

Part 2 of the excursion. Through I was salty all over, I was satisfied with my swim. On the bus ride to our next destination I was enjoying the view of the grassy hills and listening to sweet music.

 Then we made it to The Tarot Garden. 

The High Priestess

This was a garden created by a French-American artist, Niki de Saint Phalle with some assistance from her husband, Jen Tinguely. The garden took her almost 20 years to create, started in 1979, and finished in 1998. It is viewed by many as her greatest work and it is clear why. 

                                           The Sun

In this garden there are various sculptures symbolizing 22 of the major arcana of the tarot deck, including figures like: The High Priestess, The Tree of Life, The Empress, The Sun, Temperance, and more. The tallest of these sculptures are 40-50 feet tall and are all brightly colored mosaics.

She actually lived in one of her sculptures for a while during the making of her garden, it is a building covered in fragments of mirrors. 

This is the bed she slept in.
