Trip to San Gimignano

We went on an excursion to San Gimignano on Friday, April 4th, for class and it was nothing short of spectacular. We took the bus and the sights there were so pretty. 

We passed by rolling hills and the grass that is greener on the other side that everyone talks about. 

We took a tour and looked at the town center, gardens, a museum full of religious art shining with the decoration of gold leaves. 

The museum was small but I really liked all of the art. 

Then we all went our separate ways and got lunch. 

Then. oh my god then. We got gelato at Gelateria Dondoli. 

It is a famous gelato shop founded by Sergio Dondoli (pictured below)

Pictures of this sweet old man are hung up all over the store and rightfully so. He has won many many awards for his gelato, for example the Master of Art and Craft Award in 2016, and the Ice Cream World Championship from 2006-2009. 

 I mean who couldn't love this sweet old man creating arguably the best gelato in Italy and even the world. 

Now to the gelato. There is such a wide selection but I chose to get the mango and the champelmo gelato. Both were great but I still cannot stop thinking about the champelmo gelato. It was unlike anything I have ever tasted and I feel so lucky to be able to have had it. If I ever get to visit San Gimignano again, I will be back!
